Jessie Shaw (she/they) is a rising senior at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, double majoring in political science and music. She has written articles for The Mossy Log since the fall semester of her sophomore year in 2023, primarily opinion and news articles that are usually centered on issues within school and society, though she has occasionally written features and satirical articles. Before college, Jessie wrote a reflection that was featured in the Solana Beach Presbyterian Church’s Sunday bulletin when she was 14, in which she addressed her experience volunteering to serve food and clothes to the San Diego homeless people at the Ladle Fellowship during a community serve day project hosted by the church. After college, Jessie plans to pursue a career in journalism with a focus on political issues. Aside from journalism, Jessie worked in her college’s cafeteria last semester and enjoys singing and playing the piano, cooking, baking, sewing, hiking, exploring the beach and the mountains, doting on her cat and traveling. Her work can be found here.
