Danny Pottharst (he/him) is a student journalist pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and rhetoric, writing, and public discourse at Whitman College. His passion for journalism, particularly as a means of fostering community, raising awareness and amplifying underrepresented voices, stems from a love of the humanities and the culinary arts. As a feature writer and news reporter for The Whitman Wire, Whitman’s independent student newspaper, Danny has covered everything from campus sports events and protests to local news and national and international politics. He has also published a short opinion piece in The Seattle Times. Danny is especially interested in food and travel writing, and he is excited to explore and share the cuisine and culture of Arles through journalism. When he is not covering stories, Danny works as a cooking class assistant and enjoys reading, making a mess in the kitchen, doting on his cats and exploring new places. His work can be found here and here.
