As a Mexican immigrant, \u00c1ngeles is passionate about global affairs and the impact of sociopolitical issues, particularly those affecting women. She was raised in Mexico City, a place of constant movement that exists between progress and stagnation. Growing up amid these contrasts, \u00c1ngeles became acutely aware of the tension between history and modernity. A former history major, \u00c1ngeles switched to journalism to explore the cultural contexts within modern issues in an effort to create a contemporary archive of our present. With a drive to highlight marginalized voices, \u00c1ngeles was awarded by Natomas Charter\u2019s Performing and Fine Arts Academy for producing two gallery displays with interviews from queer and BIPOC youth, noting the expectations and reservations that can accompany these intersectional experiences.
