
Karla Valdez (she/her) is a journalism student with a minor in marketing at California State University Long Beach. She has a passion for covering cultural stories and currently writes for The Daily 49er newspaper. Growing up Latina in a Spanish-speaking home and publishing bilingual work last year for ENYE Magazine, she is inspired to reach a broader and more diverse audience through bilingual reporting. Her interests include running, learning French and researching 18th-century magazine literature. She joined the 2024 Arles Project in order to gain more experience and expertise in investigative reporting and photography.
