Surya Vaidy

Surya Vaidy (he/him) is a master’s student in the multimedia, photography, and design program in the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. His work has been recognized in competitions such as College Photographer of the Year, in which he won the Gold Prize in 2023 in the Interpretive Eye category. By mixing multimedia techniques with his background in cultural geography, Vaidy tells stories about people and the spaces they inhabit and create. Though he is primarily a photographer, he also works as a photo editor for The NewsHouse, a digital publication based in the communications school. He is extremely excited to be part of The Arles Project and is hoping to get more experience with journalistic writing and the French language. You can find his previous work here.
