Katherine Istomin (she/her) is a rising sophomore at Cornell University where she is studying government and psychology on the pre-law track. Originally from Long Island, New York, Katie is interested in the intersections of law, human behavior and storytelling. At Cornell, Katie writes for The Cornell Daily Sun, where she reports on student life and campus culture. She also serves as the head editor for social media, using both her writing and creative content to engage with students, alumni and the broader Cornell community. Katie is especially drawn to stories that reveal the personality of a place and the people who shape it. Outside the newsroom, Katie keeps her “sunny” side up through dancing, baking, exploring with friends, and hanging with her pug Brady, named after the greatest of all time (Tom Brady). This summer, Katie is excited to bring her storytelling to Kyoto, where she hopes to immerse herself in the city’s culture, history and everyday life.
